Black History Month Activities (February 1 - 28, 2025) - “Rhythms of Resilience, Echoes of Excellence: A Black History Tribute through Music and Word”

​​​​Mercer Raider Family and Friends,

We will kick-off our Black History Month activities on Tuesday, February 3, 2025 and will conclude with our Black History Month Program entitled, “Rhythms of Resilience, Echoes of Excellence: A Black History Tribute through Music and Word" for students and parents on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Mercer Middle School from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.  Please see below for an outline of the Black History Month activities:

  1. We will have a “Black History Poster" contest in honor of Black History Month. Each scholar may create a poster that represents Black History through the lens of "Reimagining Excellence."  Each teacher will submit his/her scholar's Black History Poster to me via email or in person by Friday, February 21, 2025.  The Black History Month Poster Contest Rubric is below. Judging will occur on Monday, February 24, 2025. These judges will be non-Mercer Raider Staff.  There will be a winner from EACH Grade Level.  Each grade-level scholar who wins will receive a GIFT CARD and Raider Nation School Spirit Gear!

2, In order to commemorate those who had an influence on Black History, we will announce surprising Black History Facts from the Black History Genres during each week outlined below:
