Backpack Policy

Parents, guardians, & students:

In an effort to maintain the safety and security of our students, beginning Monday (9/16/2024), all students will be expected to use clear or mesh bookbags/backpacks while on campusAny bag needed for after school events, which is not mesh or clear plastic, must be checked at the beginning of the day and left with the student's teacher or with the student's coach during the school day. This requirement is part of our ongoing commitment to create a safe environment for learning.  Clear or mesh bags will allow for better visibility of items being brought into school, ensuring that we can quickly address any safety concerns.

School searches will continue to be conducted as students arrive. Students are required to enter the building through the front entrance and students will continue to go through the metal detectors upon arrival. Please ensure that students arrive to school in a timely manner to allow time for students to be screened and arrive to class on time.  We understand that this may require an adjustment, and we appreciate your support and cooperation.

***The SCCPSS policy regarding backpacks can be found in the Student Code of Conduct, which goes to each student at the beginning of the school year. It is also on the Families tab of the SCCPSS website under the "Student Dress Code - Policy JCDB-R" section***

News From Nurse Katie:

SCCPSS has implemented new covid guidelines for staff and students. There is no longer a mandatory 5 day isolation period for covid related illness. This is consistent with the latest CDC guidelines. As with any illness, the individual should remain home until symptoms have improved and they are no longer having fever for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
