Enrichment

Published on:

Enrichment is an integral part of our mission at Oatland Island Wildlife Center. It is a dynamic process for enhancing the animal's environments within the context of their natural behavior.

Environmental changes are made with the goal of increasing the animal's natural instincts by offering them choices and drawing out their species-appropriate behaviors, thus enhancing animal welfare.

Essentially, we want to keep our animals active and engaged in their environment and have a little fun!

While our animals are always well cared for and provided with multiple enrichment opportunities, it is important to change things up to continually provide novel items for the animals so the enrichments we provide for them do not become boring or routine.

If you’d like to donate to our enrichment programs, check out our Amazon Wish List.
