Published on: 1/8/2024

Based the most recent information received this morning from the Chatham Emergency Management Agency, severe weather is expected to arrive in our area by 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, with weather impacts continuing into the evening hours.  Main threats include sustained winds around 25-35mph with gusts up to 40-50mph for inland areas. Coastal areas can expect 30-40mph sustained winds with gusts up to 50-60mph. There is a potential for tornadoes to develop with this system, some of which may be strong tornadoes.

In the best interest of safety for our students and staff, the district will close all in-person operations tomorrow and will shift to virtual learning and remote work for Tuesday, January 9, 2024.  Remote teaching and learning will take place as conditions allow.  Information regarding remote work options are provided below.  In addition, all schools and District operations will start on a two hour delay on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, to allow time for SCCPSS Maintenance staff to inspect all facilities and insure their operational status for the safety of students and staff.

Students are asked to complete work from this Choice Board on Tuesday and bring completed work to school on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
