Published on: 5/30/2024

Scholars, are you ready to increase your knowledge and literacy skills this summer? Well let’s get ready to prepare for the upcoming school year by participating in our SCCPSS Summer Reading Program.  Just like exercising keeps your heart and muscles in shape, so too does reading keep your brain in shape!

D
uring our SCCPSS Summer Reading Program, you will read or listen to  4 books that are of interest to you.  Please select books that align to your grade level and Lexile measure. Here is a list of recent award-winning or nominated books

Scholars, after reading your 2 – 4 books, you will submit an electronic or hard copy two-paragraph personal response for each book by Friday, August 30, 2024 using this Mercer Middle School Google Form link https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=jNoJQArTmE-lvXimwKJaU_Pkn7zL1aZHhO1yvh4UuqdUNUFISEg0N0E5WDhLRkhGVFdBMTdaSVE5Ty4u

Use the following questions as a guide to write your response: What were your feelings and responses? Did it remind you of past experiences, people, or events in your life? Did it make you think of anything happening in the world around you or in other stories or books you have read? Each submitted summary will be reviewed by your English Language Arts teacher.

W
e look forward to reading your summaries and personal reflections!

Enjoy your summer!
