American Indian Cultures (3rd Grade)

​​​​Building Program, 2 Hours      

 Students will examine how geography and environment influenced the lifestyles of indigenous and prehistoric peoples in North America. Students will use the American Indians of Coastal Georgia exhibition to study exciting artifacts such as pottery, clovis points, stone tools, a dugout canoe and more. They will learn pottery craft by making pinch and coil pots. They will be introduced to the concept of weaving by creating a model wattle-and-daub structure. Students will also learn to play a Native American game called Chunkey.​
