Mariachiquitito Band Visits Jenkins

Published on: 2/7/2024

A return visit from Mariachiquitito had our students, faculty, and staff dancing and singing as our cafeteria was brought to life at the end of the school day with a cultural exchange of music and food.  The owner of Taquería Sol, Laura Fonseca, was gracious enough to offer this Guadalajara based Mariachi band to come perform at our school for the second year in a row.  Her generosity didn’t end with the band, Doña Laura also donated authentic chicken, beef, and pork tacos with rice, topped with fresh cilantro and homemade sauces to compliment the dishes.  Drinks were donated as well from our Savannah Coca-Cola partners.  Jenkins’ students appreciated the festive end to their day!

The event served as a PBIS, No Place for Hate, and World Language enrichment activity.  We can’t thank our local community partners enough for providing us with this multicultural opportunity, from here in Savannah all the way down to our friends in Guadalajara, Mexico.

We look forward to their return next year!
