The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has two programs for our community's youngest learners. Students are eligible for our state-funded Pre-K programs in the 2025-26 SY if they will be four years old by September 1st and reside in Chatham county. The Little Acorn Academy is a full day program for 3 year olds.
Students must enter a lottery to be placed in one of these programs. The lottery for each will begin on January 11, 2025. The Pre-K program has its own lottery. Spaces in the Little Acorn Academy are awarded through the District's Choice Program lottery process. Find more information about each of these programs below as well as a link to each application site. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT OPEN UNTIL JANUARY 11, 2025.
Pre-K
The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has 65 Georgia Lottery funded Pre-K classes. The Pre-Kindergarten program provides services to age eligible four year olds (must be four years of age on or before September 1 of the school year) residing in Chatham County. Our program provides a full day (6.5 hours) of appropriate instructional services to students for the regular school calendar year. The purpose of the Pre-K Program is school readiness and transition to Kindergarten for success in later school years.

Little Acorn Academy
The Little Acorn Academy is a full-day program for 3-year-olds. The first Little Acorn Academy opened at Gould Elementary School in 2022 and was so successful, that a second location on the city's east side was opened at the Early Learning Center at Henderson E. Formey, Jr. School just a year later. In order to apply, children must be 3 years old on or before September 1, 2024, and must be potty-trained. Families residing in the Gould attendance zone will have priority at that location, those residing in the Shuman Elementary, Williams Elementary, and Formey Early Learning Center attendance zones will have priority for admission at Formey.
