Leopold’s, a classic Savannah ice cream company, and Live Oak Public Libraries,  partnered once again to host the 14th Annual Leopold’s Ice Cream Creative Writing Challenge. Students in Chatham, Effingham and Liberty Counties were invited to creatively express their thoughts, through poetry.

This year’s theme was “The Magic of Words.”

Godley Station eighth grader Raegan Smykla won for the 6th-8th grade division. Shloka Chouti, a sixth grader, was the finalist in that division. Fourth grader J.J. Hoyman was the finalist in the 3rd-5th grade division.

Winners read their poem to City of Savannah Mayor Van Johnson at City Hall on May 15.
