Superintendent’s Gala for the Arts

The Superintendent’s Gala for the Arts is a signature event for the district, designed to raise funds to support arts education in the public schools.  The annual event is a magical evening as SCCPSS students and staff deliver a performance in conjunction with a pre-show reception and awards presented to artisans and supporters of the arts.  Attendees also enjoy an exquisite dinner after the performance, complete with a silent auction with popular items from local merchants, as well as original artwork from our talented teachers and students.  See photos from the 2019 gala here.

Teacher of the Year Banquet
Every year, each school selects a teacher to represent them at the district level competition for Teacher of the Year.  The teachers are selected based on their nominator's recommendation and their completion of a standard application packet.  All teachers are recognized at a reception in October where the five finalists are announced.  The five continue to be observed and reviewed for the ultimate selection at District Teacher of the Year.  The Teacher of the Year for the District represents SCCPSS at the state level and chairs the Superintendent's Professional Senate.

Instructional Support Person of the Year Banquet
The Instructional Support Person of the Year (ISPY) award is designed to recognize staff members who contribute to the success of our schools outside of a teacher role - the nurses, secretaries, and paraprofessionals who play such an important part of the school day.  Each school nominates an “ISPY” for the school year. The person named as the instructional support person of the year for the district works alongside the teacher of the year as a voice for his/her peers.   The ISPY winners are recognized at a reception annually and also sit on the Superintendent’s Professional Senate.
