What is Title I?
BES is identified as a Title I school as part of
the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Title I
schools are designed to support State and local
school reform, to enhance efforts to improve
student achievement, and to support family/
engagement.
What is a Title I Family
Engagement Policy?
This is a policy that describes how BES will provide opportunities to improve family engagement to support student learning. We value the
contributions and involvement of families/
parents to establish an equal partnership for the
common goal of improving student achievement.
This policy describes the different ways that the
school will support family/parent engagement
and how families/parents can help plan and
participate in activities and events to promote
student learning at school and at home.
What is a Title 1 Family/Parent–School Compact?

A family/parent-school compact is a written agreement
that family/parents, students and teachers will work
together to ensure all students reach grade-level
standards. Compacts are jointly developed using input
from families provided at the spring Family Forum and
through our Annual Evaluation Surveys.
We share the responsibility for improved student
academic achievement and the means by which the
school and families/parents will build and develop a
partnership to help students achieve this goal.
In fall of each year compacts are sent home to gain
family/parent signatures and to be used at parent
conferences during the school year.
