 Teacher Induction

The Teacher Induction Program, or TIP, is a three-pronged approach to support for new teachers (0-3 years experience) in SCCPSS or for teachers new to the district.

  • District – professional development with district-level administrators and PL (THRIVE! and SOFIE).

  • School – monthly support meetings with Site-Based Induction Specialist (SBIS) in a non-evaluative role.

  • Peer – SCCPSS trained mentor to provide content and procedural support.

TIP is a three-year comprehensive induction program for every induction phase teacher, including one year of intensive mentoring and a defined process and criteria for mentor selection. District PL provides TIP mentors with ongoing research-based mentor training specifically designed for mentors of induction-phase teachers through ongoing mentor support via mentor forums, peer coaching, and professional learning communities.
