On Friday, May 12, 2023, Woodville Tompkins Technical & Career High School graduating senior, Jakala Small was the winner of the Clyde's Big Daddy's Sauce $500 college scholarship essay contest.  The scholarship essay contest was open to all Woodville Tompkins seniors who are members of the Hospitality & Culinary Arts Explorer Post sponsored by North Point Hospitality Group. Reverend Campbell, owner and founder of Clyde's Big Daddy's Sauce LLC said, "I have been very impressed with the students in the Hospitality & Culinary Arts Explorer Post. I am enjoying success in my own business and want to see these young people be successful, too. I decided that donating a college scholarship would be the best way to pay it forward. Every semester that Jakala maintains a 3.0 average, she will receive an additional $500 scholarship from Clyde's Big Daddy's Sauce."

In an excerpt from her essay, Jakala Small wrote, “I have been in the Hospitality & Culinary Arts Explorer Post program for four years now. I started in 9th grade with my advisor, Mrs. Sharon Stallings. My very first tour was at two North Point Hospitality Group locations, DoubleTree Hotel Historic Savannah, and the Hilton Garden Inn. The employees were very organized and welcoming. They took us through the entire hotel and explained to us how they progressed in their careers within the hospitality industry. Listening to their success stories motivated me to keep thriving and moving forward.  One of the most memorable events from this year when Reverend Campbell came to my school and prepared brunch for us. I really enjoyed hearing his back-story about how he developed Big Daddy's Sauces and learning about all of the job opportunities that come with creating new products and merchandise."

Mrs. Sharon Stallings, Hospitality & Marketing teacher at Woodville Tompkins Technical & Career High School added, “The Hospitality & Culinary Arts Explorer Post, sponsored by North Point Hospitality Group, along with our other local business partners such as Reverend Campbell, have opened a world of opportunity for our students. This new scholarship is yet one more way that our business partners are actively helping our students prepare for their futures."
