Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods has named three Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Advanced Placement (AP) Honor Schools for 2021. AP exams are administered by the College Board, which also administers the SAT. AP courses are one of several ways Georgia students can access college-level learning at the high school level; students who receive a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam may receive college credit.

Georgia's public-school class of 2020 has the 17th-highest Advanced Placement (AP) pass rate in the nation, according to data released by the College Board earlier this month. That maintains the AP Pass Rate Georgia students achieved in 2019 despite the impact of COVID. In a news release from the Georgia Department of Education, Superintendent Woods was quoted as saying, “I'm so proud of the class of 2020 for their continued accomplishments, and extremely pleased to see that Georgia's students maintained their strong performance on AP exams even given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in their final year," State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. “In a challenging time for schools and students, this is good news as we continue our work to expand advanced learning opportunities to all students."
The Georgia Department of Education began recognizing AP Honor Schools in 2008.
