The goal of the Savannah-Chatham County School Counseling Department is to provide comprehensive school counseling services to students. School counselors work to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students by providing a variety of services which include:
- Providing short-term individual and small group counseling services to students
- Consulting and collaborating with school staff and other community stakeholders to provide lessons and resources to meet the developmental needs of students
- Exposing students to career and post-secondary options
- Assisting students with transitions to elementary, middle, high school, and post-secondary options
- Complete the requirements of the BRIDGE Law with students beginning in 6th grade
- Reviewing academic records to include but not limited to report cards, transcripts, test scores, etc.
