SCCPSS to Implement New Security Protocols at Athletic Events

Published on: 8/28/2019

Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools continues to expand our security protocols and enhance safety initiatives across the district.  In our work to continuously strengthen security, new screening procedures will be implemented for entry into district athletic events.

The new security protocols are being put in place for the benefit of our students, staff and all attendees, and to keep pace with evolving best practices at public gatherings around the country.

The new protocols mean screening areas will be set up outside stadium gates. Bags will be searched and those entering will be screened using metal detectors.  If necessary, additional screening may be conducted. Clear bags will also be required at athletic events. Each person is allowed one (1) clear plastic bag and one (1) small clutch. Size requirements and exceptions are posted below.

Our expanded security protocols will begin the weekend of August 30, 2019 at certain games and will eventually be included at all District athletic events.  We appreciate your cooperation and continued support in our work to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time at district athletic events.
