SCCPSS To Offer DriveSafe Online® Defensive Driving Courses for Bus Drivers

Published on: 3/24/2022

Bus drivers in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System are being offered a defensive driving course thanks to a grant from DriveSafe Online® and the National Road Safety Association.

“School bus drivers are compassionate, good-hearted individuals, gifted with a keen sense of awareness,” said Paul Abbott, SCCPSS Executive Director of Transportation.  “They are responsible for the safety of every passenger riding the bus and that of other road users, while operating a large commercial vehicle and monitoring traffic and road conditions every school day.”

The training is quick and easy to complete and takes just 6 hours. Users can start, stop and continue at their own pace.  DriveSafe Online® Defensive Driving Courses feature a mobile interface with simple practice quizzes, and an easy final assessment.  Upon completion, drivers receive a certificate.

“This training is an investment in our students and staff that will make them safer drivers,” Abbott continued.  “Our drivers are an important part of the educational services we deliver every day.  Safety is the most important part of their job.  This gives them additional skills to perform their job and may even help them save a little money on their personal insurance premiums!”

DriveSafe is offering drivers' a "friends and families"rate for this training.  Family members can take advantage of the special rate by clicking the link below.
