SCCPSS Provides Jobs for More than 100 Students Through Summer EMBRACE Program

Published on: 6/11/2021

When planning began for the 2021 Summer EMBRACE program, the district's goal was to hire 100 SCCPSS students to provide a fun, interactive, and educational time for elementary children attending SCCPSS Summer School and/or Camps. As of today, the district has surpassed that goal and officially employs approximately 103 high school students at various summer school/camp sites throughout the district.

Students were hired to carry out planned lessons, activities, and/or games for a 4–8-hour summer camp, Monday-Friday. The ages of the children attending the camps range from 4-13.

The interns are assisting supervising teachers with preparing daily activities focused on a weekly theme, with an appropriate balance of independent and teacher-directed activities, a broad range of experiences, and frequent opportunities for children to make choices about what they do.
