Myers Middle School Principal Dr. Marcus Scott IV, has been named a finalist for the 2024 Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals (GASSP) Principal of the Year award. Expressing gratitude for this prestigious recognition, Dr. Scott humbly attributes the honor to the collective success of Myers Middle School staff, students, parents, and stakeholders.
Dr. Scott is quick to emphasize that he views this achievement not as an individual accolade but as a collective success for Myers Middle School. In his words, "This is not just my award; it's a recognition of the incredible work and dedication of the entire Myers Middle School team." Dr. Scott attributes the school's success to the hard work and talent of the dedicated faculty members who consistently put students first. He extends his heartfelt congratulations to them, acknowledging their pivotal role in achieving this milestone.
Dr. Scott has been in education for 22 years, 18 as an administrator. He has worked in Liberty, Glynn and currently in Chatham County. He is also a school board member in Liberty County, president of Scott's All Stars youth program and host of The Educational Hotline.
In addition to the Principal of the Year nomination for Scott, Myers Middle School has recently received accolades as a Model School, Georgia Counselor of the Year, PAGE educator grant and Breakout School. The school's Comprehensive College and Career-Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) scores have witnessed remarkable improvement, catapulting Myers Middle School beyond any underperforming list for the first time in many years. Notably, the school achieved a perfect score of 100 in closing the gap and demonstrated enhanced performance in every subgroup.
The next round of interviews for Principal of the Year finalists is scheduled at the end of January. The final Principal of the Year will be selected from a pool of six outstanding candidates.
