K-12 Update - School Locations to Remain the Same for Gould, Mercer, Groves

Published on: 7/17/2023

SCCPSS staff are hard at work preparing for the 2023-2024 school year and look forward to seeing our students on Thursday, August 3, 2023. As you are aware, the District is building a multi-million dollar K-12 facility for the students of Gould Elementary, Mercer Middle, and Groves High School.  At this time, construction is ongoing and the facility will not be ready for the new school year in August.  Students will continue to report to their existing school locations.

Information on the project timeline was shared during a District 8 Town Hall that took place on June 13, 2023.  During that presentation, the contractor, CPPI, stated that there had been delays in construction due to weather events and supply chain issues.  The facility is not expected to be completed until later this year.  Once the building construction is complete, time will be required to furnish and outfit the new facility with technology.  We apologize for the delay in transition, but rest assured there will be no disruption to the school year for students.

Once the facility has been cleared for release to the district from CPPI, we will begin the work to set a date for transitioning students to the new building.  Parents will be kept informed with updates throughout the school year regarding the project schedule and completion.

We are excited for our students to see and enjoy the beautiful new space once the building is complete; however, there will be no change in school locations for families of Gould, Mercer and Groves when school starts on August 3.  Gould Elementary, Mercer Middle, and Groves High Schools will begin the school year in their current locations.

Families are reminded that open house dates for the new school year are posted on our website at sccpss.com and are asked to make sure their contact information is up to date with their school in order to receive timely information and updates.
