Groundbreaking Held for ESPLOST-funded New Hampstead K8 School

Published on: 11/7/2019

Board Members, District Staff and Design and Construction teams gathered Tuesday, November 7, 2019 for a groundbreaking as construction begins on the planned New Hampstead K8 School.  The school, which is being built on a site behind New Hampstead High School, is in one of the fastest growing areas of Chatham County.

The new K-8 facility will be connected to the high school by a walking path to create a campus-like atmosphere for the students, faculty and surrounding neighborhood.  The school has a budget of $42,500,000 and will house 93 classrooms ready to accommodate 1500 students.  The building is scheduled to be completed for the beginning of the school year in August 2021.
