Gould Elementary “Repack the Backpack” Event Helps Hundreds of Families

Published on: 2/1/2021

On Thursday, January 21, 2021, a “Repack the Backpack” event was held at Gould Elementary School in collaboration with Peach State Health and a number of other community partners. Gould Elementary School's partnership with Peach State Health was forged with a shared vision of supporting students, families, and the community by supplementing student and family needs.  During the pandemic, many families may are in need of resources such as school supplies.

At last month’s "Repack the Backpack" drive-thru event, more than three hundred students received a backpack full of school supplies that included pencils, pens, crayons, color pencils, folders, paper, rulers, a calculator, face mask, and hand sanitizer.  In addition to the bookbags, students and families received hygiene packs that included soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, lotion, and hand sanitizer.

Community Partners Beyond the Bell, St. Joseph’s/Candler African-American Health Information and Resource Center, Quality Care for Families, and Silk Hope Baptist Church were also on site providing families with information and family resources.  See more photos from the event in our Smugmug Gallery here.
