UPDATE - 10/30/2023:
The US Army JROTC Raider Georgia State Championships were hosted by Spaulding High School in Griffin, Georgia on October 28, 2023. The Beach High Bulldog Battalion Raider Female Team took 4th place overall. In addition, the Battalion's first State Championship Individual Team event trophy was earned for a second-place finish in the Raider Fitness Test.


This was only the second year of competing at the State Championship for the Beach High Bulldog Battalion Female Team. The event gave the team an opportunity to compete against top schools from throughout Georgia with all Army JROTC programs.
The competitions are a series of physically demanding series of activities, conducted in sequence, based on a rotational schedule according to the team category. They include Rope Bridge, Raider Physical Fitness, 3.2 Mile Team Run, Raider Fitness Challenge Team, and Cross-Country Rescue.
The U.S. Army JROTC Raider Skills Meet for the State of Georgia continues to lead the way in showcasing many of the finest, most hardworking of All Army JROTC Raider teams in the State. The Raider Skills Meet annually attracts many of the best teams with all Army JROTC Raider teams in the State of Georgia. This year, there were over 75 individual teams competing. AE Beach was the only team representing Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The Alfred Ely Beach High School JROTC program competed in the Area 1 JROTC Regional Raider Championships on October 12, 2023. For the second year, the Bulldog Battalion Ladies Raider Team and finished as the female division runner-up in the region.
Raider Competitions consist of a variety of skills event including Rope Bridge, Raider Physical Fitness, 2.8 Mile Team Run, Team Tire Flip, and Cross Country Rescue Ultimate Raider. The competitions are a series of physically demanding activities, conducted in sequence, based on a rotational schedule according to the team category.
The Raider Skill Meets annually attract many of the best teams representing all branches of JROTC Raider teams in the State. With over 15 individual teams from JROTC programs competing, Beach High Instructor Captain David Brown says the Bulldog Battalion Raiders 2nd place finish is a commendable achievement.
The team will now represent SCCPSS as they advance to the JROTC State Championships to be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Spaulding High School in Griffin, Georgia.
In addition to the physical challenges, two Beach High School JROTC Cadets are competing for US Army National ROTC Scholarships worth 180,000 thousand dollars.
Those two cadets are:
Cadet Timya Duncan, who has been accepted to The Citadel Military College.
and
Cadet Anijah Pretty, who has been accepted to Georgia Southern University.
