AdvancED Monitoring Review Report Released

SCCPSS Schools Remain Fully Accredited

The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has received the “Monitoring Review Report” from the AdvancED Review team’s visit held on March 26-28, 2019.

The report is a component of the monitoring process that began with the identification of certain Improvement Priorities resulting from a Special Review conducted in the fall of 2017 to address AdvancED Standards 1.4 and 1.5 as listed below:

  • Standard 1.4: The governing authority establishes and ensures adherence to policies that are designed

to support institutional effectiveness.

  • Standard 1.5: The governing authority adheres to a code of ethics and functions within defined roles

and responsibilities.

This new Monitoring Review Report maintains that significant progress has been made over the past several months and that an effective environment for maintaining and addressing the Improvement Priorities has been created.  The report further concludes that Performance Standard 1.4 has been met, while Performance Standard 1.5 needs additional attention.

According to AdvancED, the high schools in the district will continue with their accreditation status of “Accredited” pending the district’s progress made by the date of a Monitoring Review to be held prior to January 31, 2020. The purpose of the follow-up Monitoring Review will be to assess the progress made toward meeting Standard 1.5 as identified in this report.

JOINT STATEMENT OF THE SCHOOL BOARD PRESIDENT AND SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS: “SCCPSS remains fully committed to working closely with the AdvancED review team to meet the full directives associated with Performance Standard 1.5.  The administration and members of the Board of Public Education have made great strides in addressing the findings of the fall 2017 review in a manner that has yielded better governance and improved institutional effectiveness.  We look forward to continued improvement for the benefit of all students and for the continued advancement of the high quality public educational offerings found throughout the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.
