Thousands of SCCPSS staff, students and families turned out for the 14th Annual Student Success Expo and STEM Festival on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Savannah Civic Center. In addition to gathering college and career information, attendees enjoyed interactive displays and learned about all the public school options across the district while gaining valuable information related to program pathways.
The Expo featured a “Teddy Bear Clinic" which focused on the Healthcare Science fields and showcases a collaboration between the school district and local healthcare professions and post-secondary institutions. In addition, the Young Entrepreneurs and Young Inventors Showcase featured students who are already taking their knowledge and initiative to open their own shop. The showcase spotlights students in our schools who have an entrepreneurial spirit or who have invented products or services.
The Expo featured all the district Choice programs including Performing Arts, Aviation Manufacturing and Service, Engineering, Welding, Aviation, Cosmetology, (Hair, Nails and Barbering), Culinary, Medical & Allied Health, Construction, Automotive Repair and Collision, Public Safety, and Logistics and more. Students and parents had the opportunity to learn more about a wide range of educational pathways that are sure to inspire a thirst for knowledge and higher learning. Students also had the opportunity to speak to college representatives from schools across the nation.
The Student Success Expo and STEM Festival is the signature event for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, showcasing the seamless transition between education and careers. The event provides students, parents, community, business, and industry an opportunity to understand the connection between our programs of study, college and career options through information made available by schools, colleges, and business and industry partners.
The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System's Choice Program Application process for SY 2023-24 kicked-off at the Expo. Parents were able to apply on-site for the Choice school or program that meets their child's interest (SY 23-24). The event also included student competitions and interactive booth displays.
